OLAF’S ANGELS IN ACTION : I suspect the photo on the right was taken at the end of the race…but what the heck! From left to right : Rina, Ling, Olaf and Rebecca.

OLAF'S AUNTIES?

Perhaps Chi's suggestion that we be called "Olaf's Aunties" might have been apt in more ways than one!

Only Aunties take their own sweet time…I felt very embarrassed to have called the organizers in the last hour to ask if we could join in the challenge (which I learnt recently only takes place once in 3 years)? Bless their kind souls….WE'RE IN!!!

Another Auntie behaviour….nagging! When I first arrived and met up with my teammates, I could feel the weight of Olaf's ears from all the scolding he got for being tardy…which added onto the already heavy bag he was carrying! Poor lad!

When we arrived, meeting participants who were more than a decade younger (secondary students etc.) sealed our fate as being the "Aunties" and their German porter and chef!

I must acknowledge though that the above Auntie traits did contribute to our winning formula...plus the fact that I had a really fun team who was unfazzled by the competition and who's mission for the day : to cover all 7 checkpoints in 5 hours! Very focused, no?

So, the title "Olaf's Angels" was purely for cosmetic reasons only. ;)

We were greeted by fellow Team Zendogmates of which Chi was the leader of the pack…and lost the job of being our Bosley! While picking out our armbands (made out of recycled curtains….good on you)….we chose the winning pink batik print which suited our blue theme perfectly, whereas the doggies went along with a garang bright red printed tablecloth - which I understand was to be blamed for their not clinching the trophy! Hee hee!

The rest of the morning was spent fending off death-threats and plans of sabotage from Team Zendogs…and trying not to tip over from laughing too hard from their ridiculous tactics and pranks! I was thinking to myself "this must be the most relak race I've ever taken part in"… until Athena the Han (looking smart with her intimidating-looking teammates clothed in black-jerseys) came over, looking dead serious, and shook our hands! :P (Relak lah sista)…

Before you know it, the third wave was getting ready to do one of those "Chariots of Fire" flag offs… we hear Zishin's voice…a few seconds later….we were buried in lallang looking for our envelopes….thanks to Tze-Lynn from Zendogs, who selflessly handed over the envelope to Olaf…who shouted "Angels, we've got it! Let's go!" Rina hadn't realized we'd found the envelope till she saw her teammates running away! The clue? To ZH for some exercise or something along those lines.

Funny that the Charlie's Angel theme song never once entered my head, but if it had to find its way into our adventure that day, there was never a more opportune moment than when we set off on our mission:-
