Ming gave herself
this nickname so we don’t really know how it came about. We don’t
think that it is related to the Flash Gordon character. She is working as
the Head of Finance some place (she won’t tell us where though) but if
she wasn’t doing this high flying job, she would be a travel writer.
Seems like this travel writer job is a sweet deal as two people in TA
would like to do it. She’s been riding for five years but she’s taken
the last two years off (not by choice). Her real world job has kept her
busy for the last two years but she promises to be back better than ever
this year.
In the five years she
has had one and only one bike : her Specialized Stumpjumper. Her friends
(both and TA and otherwise) are the people that have most influenced her
to ride. She doesn’t have a dream road bike cos she doesn’t like
riding on the road. Her dream mountain bike is a Merlin, any Merlin will
do. She does have some good advice for would be mountain bikers and it is
to “go slow, read as careful, on unfamiliar terrain.” Good sound
advice if we’ve ever heard some. Her best advice received is “not to
jam your brakes suddenly as you will fly over the handlebars.” Her best
moment was when she completed the BTT circuit without falling or getting
off the bike. Her worst moment came when she fell taking a sharp corner at
high speed. Hence her advice on riding unfamiliar terrain. Her best bike
related purchase : the bike itself. She bought it at a bargain price. But
she never uses the bar ends on it so it gets to be her worst bike related
purchase. And unlike most of us, she has too many great non-bike purchases
to mention. (We should probably get some buying tips from her!)
