The
name is pretty intimidating : Ling the Merciless as inspired by Ming the
Merciless of Flash Gordon fame. Her current job(s) are numerous, she has
them listed as bum...errrr....freelance lawyer / treasurer / music
producer for Talking Cock Movie but soon to sell her soul as in-house
legal counsel advising on derivatives law!!! BUT she still regards herself
as full time filmmaker and part time lawyer! With all these jobs, she
doesn’t really have time to not be doing anything else!
She
refuses to disclose the number of years she has been riding but it has
been since she was riding the 3-wheel kind. But she has owned her fair
share of bikes such as a Prince (which was her first present from her
parents), then a Marin (can't remember the model), then her loyal
Specialized Rock Hopper, nicknamed Sweetlips, which she’s pampered for
more than 1/2 a decade (more clues about how long she has been riding) but
has since been passed on to her sister and now her precious, Trek
8500 (nicknamed Fire Fly)
As
far as the person(s) that most influenced her to ride go she has two sets.
As a kid, her sisters. Up to about a decade ago, a bunch of divers who
used to hang out at Hard Rock Cafe. ‘It was the only activity during the
monsoon season, she says as though there needs to be a reason.
Here
is a simple request for a Dream Road Bike, ‘Don't have one. Any would do
- not picky.’ And she feels that she already owns her dream mountain
bikes, both the Sweetlips and Fire Fly.
Her
best riding advice received was from none other than Sandman and it was on
how to negotiate steep and stubby downhills.
Her
best cycling moment came after having completed 3 rounds of Bukit Timah
during a biking competition in her own record time!!! :)
Her
worst cycling moments are usually after crashing and the garbled knees
speak for themselves!
Her
best bike related purchase was her Sweetlips! The Fire Fly was a
present!!! (lucky you)
Her
worst bike related purchase she thinks is probably this 1-piece biking
overall which she hardly used coz it looked like a dive shorty.

to her film making aspirations, her best non-bike related purchase was her
video camera - TRV900E - could have been cheaper though! And for all your
computer haters out there, her worst non-bike related purchase was her
darn Dell Computer - and the ancillary parts to go with it coz they were
cheap and which took her through 7 different IT consultants to get it
fixed!!!
