Latest
addition to the team : Fangio.
We took a while to decide on this name. It was originally going to be posterboy,
but we didn't want to attract the 'groupies.' Then it was going to be
Fangster, but we figured that it was to childish. So Fangio like Fabio, I
guess. He is currently a
student/athlete in NUS (if there is such a thing)
He
has been riding since he was 6. He stopped at 14 and then started again in
May 02. He just decided that he was going to ride again and no one was
going to get in his way. OM ran into him at BTT one Sunday, and the rest
is history
He's
owned a Red kiddy bike with trainers, a brandless yellow BMX,
a rigid
cro-mo Marin hardtail, a 7spd Cannondale SR800 roadie and a Santa Cruz
Superlight. He's given all of those up for his current rides which are a
Ironhorse singlespeed, Santa Cruz Bullit, Santa Cruz Roadster. (I guess
someone likes Santa Cruz).
And
you know that since he's been into riding for a while, he going to have
some pretty good choices for dream bikes. They are a Colnago CF1 Ferrari
bike for the road and a Colnago CF2 Ferrari for the trails. But he doesn't
stop there, he wants there bikes so that he can strap his Ferrari 360
Spyder onto the top of them, or them to the top of the car...whatever
The
best advice he's received on riding is that tt's going to hurt. Having
ridden and raced, his advice is now "It's going to hurt, trust me, I
know."
His
best cycling and worst cycling moments came on the same ride. Doing
a 8 foot double jump on the 3rd day of riding after not having cycled for
7 years and walking away from it. Then bashing his knee into the stem
while endo-ing trying to clear another jump, thinking he was superman. You
figure which was which. He had to be driven to the hospital and was on
crutches for a week after that.
His
best purchase was his Met helmet. If not for it, he might have been on
more than just crutches (life support system, maybe?). His worst bike
purchase was buying his Ironhorse in Australia.
Nice
practical best non-bike purchase is a car. "Can't cycle everywhere,
ya know."
And how hardcore is this, his
worse
non-bike purchases are all the stuff that he has, when the money
could have been used to buy more bikes and bike stuff.
Sick..
