IN MEMORY OF MY DEAREST LATE TEAM MATE, SWEE HAW

Personally this race meant a lot to me. I heard about this race a few weeks ago but because of the tragedy that happened to my dear team mate, Swee Haw during my last adventure race with him in Perak, I wasn't really in a mood to race again for a while and thus didn't take any interest in it. However, at the last minute, I decided to make myself get over it and to just go for it. And I'm glad I did.

This is the first team race for the past few years that I'm actually doing without Swee Haw and throughout the whole race, I was just reminiscing about all the good and fun times I'd spent together with Swee Haw during all my previous races and I was missing him so badly because we made such great team mates with me being the planner and him being my strength. And throughout the years, our strengths just complimented each other so well that when we finally came in first in the mixed category in last year's Salomon adventure race, that was the highest point in our adventure racing efforts and we strive to work as best as we could for all future races. And thus in this race, I gave it all that I can and tried my best, even though I didn't really expect to win. And when I finally finished the race as best as I could, I was at peace with myself, knowing that Swee Haw would have been proud of me. And when our team eventually won, I silently dedicate the 'win' to him to let him know that he will forever be remembered as my favourite 'team mate' and that I'll always be missing him taking such great care of me during all my races.

Rest in peace, my dear friend!

When Zishin first invited me to grace the race, my attending it was dependent on whether there were other people manning the SACA booth at Ngee Ann City on that Sunday. Seems like things worked out fine, and I not only graced it, but also raced it! Who would have thought we even aced it! (Sorry for being so corny)!

On behalf of Team OLAF’sAngels, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Togoparts organizers, marshalls, spies (heh heh) who worked so darn hard so that we can all enjoy such a wonderfully challenging race!!! I know organizing races is no easy task and I really take my hats off to you all, especially Mas, Zaskargirl, Genie and Foezzz, the mastermind behind! You all did a superb job, congratulations!!!

We would also like to thank the sponsors for all the goodies that we got, both as a participant and as the winning team!

Last but not least, we know of someone who truly deserves the title “King of the Jungle”. Rebecca and I were part of Team Sixxis 1 and 2 which participated in an adventure race sometime back. Without a helmet nor gloves, and wearing only his soleless shoes, one of our teammates voluntarily assumed the role of a scout for our teams. He boldly braved the jungles at Frasier’s Hill Twin Peaks at 3 am in the morning, sliding down muddy slopes and warning us of thorny vegetation with cries of “ouch, thorn on the right…..ouch, thorn on the left”! That person is none other than our late teammate, Ho Swee Haw.

We would like to dedicate our trophy to Swee Haw, our King of the Jungle!!!
